The first phase of creating a durable and sustainable home garden begins with a complimentary design consultation. We will typically spend an hour understanding your garden requirements and how they may fit within your property. We will discuss your budget, goals for your garden, and some of the plants you wish to incorporate.
Design will depend on three major criteria
Available space
A beautiful and productive garden can add a great aesthetic to any landscape. We will work within your current landscaping or re-imagine the space to provide the productive garden you’re looking for. We advise the use of fully fenced, raised bed gardens to receive the best return on your garden investment. However if one of our standard styles is not an option we will create something perfectly tailored to your needs.
Sun cover
A simple and precise examination will determine the amount of sunlight each area of your property receives. A minimum of five hours of sunlight is required for most gardens but we will be looking for spots that get at least 8. We will provide tree removal and other site preparation as necessary.
Access to water
A consistent and reliable harvest depends more on water than any other variable. While it is possible to have the diligence to manually water your entire garden we believe it is best to automate that task. To that end we will ensure your garden is placed in an area where a fully automated drip irrigation system can be installed. The system may run off your external water supply or be tied into your existing sprinkler system.
Installation
Prior to first installation we will agree on a statement of work to be performed. We will detail the size and scope of the project as well as the materials to be used. A cost of the project will have been agreed along with any required deposit.
On the day of installation we will have materials delivered and begin site prep. Gardens placed in difficult to access areas or ones that require significant leveling will have been discussed with you earlier. Depending on the size and requirements of the garden we should be at a point to provide soil and transplants within 2-3 days.
